Regional Meeting
Struga, Macedonia (FYROM)
This was the second time that Macedonia hosted the participants from Germany, Austria, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and Macedonia, all of them committed to the main IPPNW goals. This meeting is an opportunity to share our stories and to look forward to future collaborative activities towards nuclear disarmament.

IPPNW Campaigners Meeting

The ICAN Campaigners Meeting takes place immediately before the Second Preparatory Committee for the 2015 Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT PrepCom), from 22 April – 3 May 2013 in Geneva, Switzerland. This ten-day diplomatic PrepCom provides an opportunity to build upon the successful outcome of the Oslo conference and continue to inspire, persuade and pressure policy-makers to support a treaty banning nuclear weapons.

More than 200 participants from local NGOs attended the event. Dr. Balbir Singh, coordinator of a local NGO told that in contrast to the natural and renewable resources of energy like solar, wind and water, the nuclear resources are neither safe nor economical and are fraught with danger of nuclear weaponisation with hazardous ill effects on human health which the world has already witnessed thrice with major accidents in nuclear power plants.
