| IPPNW's
17th World Congress took place at the Paasitorni Center in Helsinki, Finland from
September 7-10, 2006. The Congress was organized jointly by IPPNW and Physicians
for Social Responsibility - Finland (PSR-F). Under the Congress
title of "Mission of Physicians: War or Health?", the three main
themes of the workshops and plenary sessions were 1) nuclear abolition and the
campaign for a Nuclear Weapons Convention 2) Small Arms and the public health
impact of war, and 3) energy security. At the end of the
Congress, this statement,
entitled "If You Want Peace, Work For Health," was released. The Congress website
